3 farmers nabbed for allegedly kidnapping travellers in Ondo

The Amotekun Corps has reportedly arrested three local farmers in Ikaram -Ibaram Akoko in Akoko Northwest LGA of in Ondo State over kidnapping.

The suspects, Pelemo Samuel (20), Ogundele Ojo (18), and Obalobi Temitayo (19) were nabbed inside the bush while trying to share a ransom allegedly collected from a victim.

Parading the suspects on Monday at the Amotekun Corps’ headquarters in Akure, Adetunji Adeleye, commander of the security outfit, said the three suspects were apprehended inside the forest in Akoko, a border town between Ondo and Kogi states.

Mr Adeleye said the suspects with others, still at large, allegedly abducted some travellers on the notorious roads in Akoko.

He said, “The three of them were the people that had been joining their colleagues in the kidnapping activities around Ikakumo-Akoko.

“They abducted some travellers on the road and moved them into the bush. It was there that they collected ransom. Our men have to track them down during the process of sharing the ransom.”

Mr Adeleye said the operatives also arrested one Michael Ojo (27), who specialised in attacking and disposing commercial motorcyclists otherwise known as ‘Okada riders’ in Akure.

He said the suspect, after stealing the bike, always move them outside the state capital to rural communities to sell at a ridiculous price.

He said, ‘’He operates in Akure and moves to either Uso or Ogbese, where he sells the bikes for N30,000, N50,000.”
