Three people were killed late yesterday while several others were injured in separate clashes between two rival cult groups in Osogbo, Osun State.
Though there was no detail on the cause of the clashes at press time, security sources said two leading members of the rival groups started the fight at a popular bar along Iwo/Osogbo road on Thursday.
Daily Trust learnt that a member of a cult group harassed a member of the rival group at the bar, leading to a reprisal.
“After managing to escape, the man that was harassed mobilized members of
his group and they stormed the bar,” a witness said.
Residents of Ayetoro, Sabo and Adenle in Osogbo stayed indoors for several hours while the clash lasted. Police spokesman, Mrs Folashade Odoro could not be reached while the new commissioner of police in the state was not accessible.
