3 cross-border armed bandits arrested in Lagos

The police in Lagos said they have arrested three suspected armed bandits who allegedly specialise in robbing high profile persons.

The suspects – Ugochukwu Stanley, 25; Ayodele Ismaila, 28, and 28-year-old Elochukwu Nwabuwa – were arrested by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Lagos State Police Command at Falomo on August 8, 2020.

The police said the arrest was sequel to an attack by the suspects on a female foreigner in Lekki on June 24, 2020 and her subsequent abduction.

The police alleged that the gang sold the victim’s Range Rover sport car to a Lebanese car dealer in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, who paraded the suspects before journalists yesterday, said, “The suspects’ major targets are luxury vehicles, which they mostly moved to Benin Republic to sell.

“The recent incident occurred on June 24, 2020 at about 2pm. The suspects monitored one Denise Chukwueke, a white lady, around the Lekki area and abducted her. They released her after ransom was paid. They took her gold chain, rings, phones and the Range Rover.”
