A magistrates’ court in Makurdi on Wednesday ordered the remand of three farmers, Orngu Shuhu, Ityonenge Azungur and Andrew Ber, in the correctional facility, Makurdi, for killing a 70-year-old man and throwing his corpse in a river.
All the accused, of Mbakume Mbayier village, Konshisha LGA of Benue State, were charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

The Magistrate, Vincent Kor, who did not take their plea, adjourned to September 8.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Jonah Uletu, told the court that the case was transferred from Tse-Agberagba, Konshisha LGA, to the state CID, Makurdi, on July 6, that one Joseph Baver reported the matter at the Korinya police station on July 5, that his 70-year-old father, Iortiam Baver, was killed by the suspects and thrown into River Sambe.
Uletu said that the suspects were arrested during police investigation while others were still at large. (NAN)
