Three suspected bandits were gunned down after soldiers foiled an attempt to rustle cows at Nasarawa -Azzara community in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.
A resident, shaya Bala, said the incident happened on Tuesday around 5pm when the bandits invaded a herders’ settlement.
He said the bandits, who were seven in number, wielding AK-47 rifles, invaded the settlement and successfully moved the cows, but that the troops who were on their way out of neighboring Azzara village got information and immediately took position and opened fire on them.
A community leader from the area said, “It was due to the swift intervention of the soldiers who were returning to their base after patrol that saved the situation.”
