3 aspirants step down at Anambra PDP primaries

Emeka Etiaba, Tony Nwoye and one other unnamed person have stepped down from the ongoing governorship primaries of People’s Democratic Party in Anambra state.

The primaries are to pick a party candidate for governorship polls in the state this November.

The PDP has been ripped into two factions, with two separate leaderships.

Both factions are holding primaries in two different venues on Saturday.

Deputy Governor of  Edo state Mr. Philip Shai’bu,  who is the secretary to the Anambra state PDP  Guber primary election committee, shortly after meeting with the aspirants, announced the stepdown to journalists in Awka.
According to him, the aspirants stepped down  voluntarily and promised to support whoever emerges as the candidate of the party in the  November 6 election.
The deputy governor also assured that the party would conduct a credible, free and fair election to the satisfaction of the aspirants so that the losers will support the winner.
According to him, all the aspirants have agreed to respect the outcome of the primary  after meeting with them this afternoon
 He also said that out of the 230  supper delegates expected at the election less than 200 were accredited.
As of the thing of filling this report, the other faction is still conducting their own primary election.
