3 arrested over N21m glass cases

The police in Edo State have arrested three men, Sunday Olayemi Emmanuel (36), Adesoye Adeyemi (35) and Muritala Bolaji (35), for diverting a truck loaded with glass cases worth N21 million.

The Edo State police spokesperson, Bello Kontongs, said, “Acting on a petition addressed to the Commissioner of Police from Ausuda Logistics Company, Benin, we arrested the suspects on April 26.”

He said the suspects diverted a truck loaded with 18 cases of glass from Rongsheng Glass, Benin, meant to be delivered to their customer on January 29, at Onitsha, to Ekiti State and sold them at a cheaper price to one Muritala Bolaji.

He said Bolaji had confessed to have bought the goods for N14m as opposed to the company’s market value of N21m.

According to him, N11m and a Lexus 350 jeep were recovered from Emmanuel and Adeyemi and that they have all confessed to the crime.
