3 arraigned over firearms in Kwara

An Ilorin magistrates’ court in Kwara State has ordered the remand of three people in a correctional facility for being in possession of firearms illegally.

The suspects are Jamiu Bello, Kolawole Wasiu and Yusuf Babatunde.

According to the police, one Abubakar Ridwan of Taiwo area in Ilorin informed them of the suspects’ hideout at Ariyo compound in Taiwo.

The police said when the suspects were apprehended they could not give satisfactory account of two pistols recovered from them and the reason for their presence at the location.

The prosecutor, Abdullahi Sanni, urged the court to order the suspects’ remand because “they are the criminals terrorising the area.”

The Magistrate, Idiagbon, ordered the remand of the accused and adjourned to August 4.
