3, 100 delegates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State have affirmed Governor Simon Lalong as governorship candidate of the party for the 2019 governorship election.
The party’s delegates made the affirmation on Sunday during the governorship primary held at Crest Hotel in Jos.
Before the affirmation, Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Joshua Madaki moved a motion for the affirmation to be done through “voice vote” due to violence that rocked the state capital on Sunday, so as to allow delegates and other party supporters go back to their various destinations on time.
The former Plateau state Deputy Governor and APC BOT member, Pauline Tallen seconded the motion for the affirmation through voice votes.
While conducting the voice vote, the Chairman, Electoral Committee of the primary, Olugbenga Onaolapo asked the delegates at the venue as to whether or not they agree to adopt Lalong as the sole candidate of the party.
All delegates through “voice vote” said “yes”, meaning that they have agreed for Lalong to be the sole governorship candidate of the party.
