2nd term: ADP hails IBB for advising Buhari

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has backed a statement released by a former military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, asking President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.

A statement signed and issued yesterday in Abuja by ADP’s National Secretary, James Okoroma, in reaction to IBB’s media reports, described the statement as timely.

The statement added that history “will be kind to IBB for speaking up against the leadership failure under President Buhari.”

The party said the former president was “clinical in his presentation by touching on the economy, pervasive insecurity, bloodletting across the country, devolution of power, community policing and restructuring.”

The ADP, which joined IBB to make an appeal on President Buhari not to seek re-election, said, “Babangida’s declaration that restructuring can no longer be wished away shows that there is hope for Nigeria.”

Before going to press, however a disclaimer emanating from the Minna Hill Top residence of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida had denied the earlier report attributed to the retired military President. The dislaimer stated inter alia, that IBB never advised PMB concerning participation in the 2019 polls.
