A total number of 290 intending pilgrims from the FCT have taken off to the holy land to perform the 2023/ 2024 main Christian pilgrimage.
In her keynote address during the pre-departure orientation for intending pilgrims, the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Hahmoud urged them to respect the laws of the host nations.
Mahmoud also charged the intending pilgrims to pray for Nigeria and the leaders during the pilgrimage.
She also charged the intending pilgrims to be ambassadors of Nigeria and to stay away from any misconduct that will be capable of showing Nigeria in bad light.

Mahmoud noted that the pilgrimage was a very important spiritual exercise and advised the intending pilgrims to make use of the opportunity.
In her goodwill message, the FCT Head of Service, Mrs. Grace Adayilo reiterated the need for every pilgrim to pray for Nigeria.
She charged the pilgrims to take spiritual responsibility while in the holy land and make the best of the pilgrimage.
Earlier, the Director, FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Gloria Dandam, who was particularly thankful to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud for facilitating the trip, said the trip was a spiritual journey.
The Vice Chairman, the FCT Christian Association of Nigeria,, Rev. Dr. Isaac Komolafe, warned the the intending pilgrims not to abscond.
Our correspondent reports that the 2023/2024 pilgrimage to Israel was earlier put on hold due to the Israeli – Gaza conflict.
