28 parties adopt DPP for 2019 in Gombe

The Coalition of Progressive Political Parties, an umbrella body of 28 opposition parties in Gombe State, has resolved to support the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) in the 2019 general elections.

 Addressing a press conference yesterday in Gombe, chairman of the coalition, Alhaji Magaji Kwairanga, said they arrived at the decision after series of consultations with the executives and members of the 28 political parties.

 He said the adoption of DPP as an alternative party was to allay fears and tensions that were rising among prospective aspirants, “over the tendencies of the two major parties in the state, APC and PDP, to deny them a transparent primary election.”
