Twenty-seven children from riverine communities in Warri Kingdom in Delta State have benefitted from the Royal Iwere Foundation (RIF) Scholarship, an initiative of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, and his wife, Olori Atuwatse III.
The RIF, in collaboration with Valley Stream British Academy (VAB), Sapele, awarded the scholarships to 27 children of primary and secondary school ages.
Commenting on the significance of the RIF scholarship, Olori Atuwatse III said, “Education is the key to transforming our country and continent. We recognise the vital importance of providing quality developmental education to our children.
“This is why we invest significantly in education at the Royal Iwere Foundation to ensure that marginalised communities, especially those in the riverine areas, are not left behind. I commend the management and staff of Valley Stream British Academy for supporting this vision to cultivate great minds regardless of their backgrounds.

“I also take this opportunity to encourage more educational institutions across primary, secondary and tertiary levels to partner with us, as over 20 million children are out of school according to the UNESCO Global Education Report, and we have many more lives to impact.
“RIF is steadfast in its mission to empower and nurture great minds in Warri Kingdom because these children are the leaders of tomorrow, and tomorrow is almost here. Let’s equip them for it.”
The annual value of the scholarships is estimated to be between 150m and 200m.
