A total of 268 athletes and officials will represent Kano State at the 21st edition of the National Sports festival (NSF) taking place in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The delegation from Kano which has since arrived in Asaba was led by the Director Sports, Kano State Sports Commission, Dr Bashir Ahmad Maizare.
The biennial event is scheduled to be held from November 28 to December 10 with most of the events taking place at the late Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba.
Kano State is participating in 21 events which include basketball, chess, deaf athletes, deaf table-tennis, golf, handball, judo, karate, kick-boxing and kung-fu.
Others are para athletics, para-powerlifting, para-swimming, para table-tennis, shooting, swimming, taekwondo, kokawa, dambe, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.
Team Kano will kick-start its campaign on Thursday, December 1, 2022 with para-power lifting, Chess and Judo.
The Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, has charged the athletes to be worthy ambassadors of the state.
He said they should do everything to justify the confidence reposed in them by the government and people of Kano State.
“As you represent the good people of Kano State, you must not do anything that will tarnish the good image of the state.
“The government will also do everything necessary to support you to achieve your dreams,” he said.
