A former Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, Professor Shettima Saidu, has said a total of 26 programmes were accredited while seven others got interim approval in four years for the institution.

Prof. Saidu stated this to the acting Rector, Alhaji Abdullahi Ahmed, at a handing over ceremony.

He said the courses were approved by the regulatory agencies because officials performed their duties with dedication and honesty.

He also said that TETFund grants were wisely utilized in the provision of infrastructures and that some of the new structures constructed included a lecture theater and an administrative office.

He added that the polytechnic was able to introduce a new School of Information Technology and also restructured the School of Continuing Education.

He said staff welfare was also improved.

Prof. Saidu said the inability to conduct the recent convocation ceremony was due to the strike action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP).

Responding, the acting Rector, Abdullahi Ahmed, thanked the institution for giving him the opportunity to serve in the capacity. He promised to be fair and just to all and keep the legacy of his predecessor.
