25th Anniversary: Minister lauds Fed Poly, Offa

The Minister of Education, Hon. Adamu Adamu, has commended the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state for fulfilling the principal purpose of her establishment in terms of qualitative academic programmes, infrastructural development, uninterrupted academic calendar,staff training as well as entrepreneurship development.

The minister made the remark during the 25th anniversary and 9th convocation of the institution.

The Minister, according to a statement issued by Mrs. Abbas Atinukemi of Public Relations & Protocols department, lauded the Governing Council and Management of the Polytechnic for its prudent management of limited resources.

The Chairman, Governing Council of the Polytechnic, Chief Oseloka Zikora, reiterated the commitment of the Council to reposition the Polytechnic for the production of skilled knowledgeable manpower in various fields. 

“It is against this background that the Council working with the Management has decided to make technical and vocational skill

“It is against this background that the Council working with the Management has decided to make technical and vocational skills training a top priority and currently intends to develop a massive skills and Entrepreneurship Center targeted at not only graduates but also those who could not benefit from formal education. The areas of focus include such technical and vocational trades as automotive mechanic and mechatronics, ICT/electrical installation, bricklaying/masonry, plumbing works, woodworks and carpentry, cosmetics/cosmetology, fashion designing, to mention but few,” he said. 

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Lateef Olatunji expressed profound gratitude at the success of the ceremony and reiterated his commitment to academic excellence and infrastructural development of the institution.

He listed recent achievements to include affiliation with the Federal University of Technology, Minna and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria for Bachelor degrees and IJMB programmes as well as improvement in the activities of Entrepreneurship Development Center.

Eminent personalities that graced the occasion include, the Honorable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu; His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Dr. AbdulFatah Ahmed; Executive Secretary of NBTE, Dr. Masa’udu Adamu Kazaure; Executive Secretary of TETFund, Dr. Abdullahi B. Baffa, a former Minister of Internal Affairs, Amb. (Dr).Tunji Olagunju, President NLC, Alh. (Dr.) Najeem Yasin, (one of the Fellow awardees of the Polytechnic).

Others were His Royal Imperial, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife; HRM Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, the Olofa of Offa; HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III and other Royal Fathers across the nation.
