The Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) of the Transport Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has impounded 251 tricycles over various traffic violations in Abuja.
The Director of DRTS, Dr. Abdulateef Bello, who briefed journalists at the service’s Wuye command where the impounded tricycles are dumped, said they were arrested for mostly route violation.
He said rickety vehicles which were not road worthy and were source of pollution were also impounded.
He warned that the DRTS would descend heavily on operators of tricycles, who have refused to obey the transport regulations of the city.

The Transport Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Candido, on his part said the FCTA would do all that is within the law to ensure the transport masterplan of the city was maintained.
