A 25-year old school dropout, Chizoba Napoleon, on Thursday appeared in a Karimo Grade 1 Area Court for entering Mountain of Fire Church and allegedly stealing a phone.

Napoleon of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to a one-count charge of theft, contrary Section 288 of the Penal Code.

The Area court judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N5,000 with a surety in like sum.

Sadiq said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and adjourned the case till Sept. 22 for hearing.

He further cautioned the accused to desist from such crime and go back to his studies.

Prosecutor Zannah Dalhatu told the court that Stanley Eke of Gwagwa Karimo Village, reported the matter at Utako Police Station on Sept. 1

Dalhatu said that the defendant entered Mountain of Fire Miracle Church during service and criminally stole a Techno handset valued N17,000.

He said that the defendant confessed to the crime during police investigation.
