The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Benue State said there have been 25 deaths from 75 road crashes within the past three months in different parts of the state.
Sector Commander in charge of Benue State, Yakubu Mohammed, who disclosed this during a chat with our correspondent in Makurdi Friday, noted that a total of 453 people were involved in those crashes.

Mohammed said a breakdown in the occurrence of the road accidents indicates that between December 17 and 29, 2021, a total of 13 crashes involving 22 vehicles happened with 92 persons onboard while 11 were killed during the period, 45 out of the number sustained various degrees of injuries.
He further explained that between January this year and March 28, a total of 62 road crashes occurred with 361 people involved and 14 persons killed while 155 were injured.
The Sector Commander however posited that the rate of road crashes within the state had reduced by 15 per cent in recent times following a massive public education strategy evolved by the command to enforce traffic rules and offenders’ discipline.
