The Gombe State Police Command said it has arrested a 21-year-old suspected drug dealer in possession of substances believed to be illicit drugs.
Parading the suspect before newsmen on Thursday, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Maikudi Shehu, said Babayo Yahaya of Pantami quarters of the metropolis was arrested on September 14 by the Lowcost Division based on credible information by the public.

He said the suspect was arrested with 107 bunch of Tramadol capsules and 111 sachets of Exole tablets worth millions of naira and also recovered N400, 000 he issued to police as a bribe.
According to him, the suspect confessed to being a dealer in illicit drugs for about two years, operating within Gombe and its environs.
CP Shehu said the illicit drugs and N400,000 allegedly used by Yahaya to bribed the police was recovered by the police.
He added that the suspect also claimed to purchase the illicit drugs from one Ebuka Chimeze of Onitsha in Anambra state, who is still at large.
The CP said the case will be transferred to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, the police had arrested one Fidelis Ephraim, 37 of Tal village of Billiri LGA of the state, over alleged motorcycle theft and culpable homicide.
The suspect was alleged to have killed a commercial motorcyclist and carted away the motorcycle which he subsequently ‘sold’ at Lafiya Lamurde in Adamawa state.
According to the police, Ephraim hired the motorcyclist to take him to a farm located on the outskirts of Tal village.
“However, on reaching the farm he allegedly killed him [rider] and ran away with the motorcycle,” the police said.
