2027: We are working to bring Kwankwaso, Obi back into our fold – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is making efforts to strengthen the party and oust the current administration in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

It said discussions are ongoing to woo some influential politicians back to the party as part of move to bolster its chances of winning the next elections.

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ibrahim Abdullahi, stated this in an interview with Channels Television.

Abdullahi, who attributed the party’s loss of election in 2023 to the defection of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to other parties months to the presidential polls however said there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

“We have lost Kwankwaso, we have lost Peter Obi — all of these people — imagine if they are in the party, we will have gone to win the elections,” he said.

“This APC said they defeated us with one million plus (votes), just one of these names that I mentioned would have covered that gap for us and we would have been in power today and certainly Nigerians would not have been confronted with this despair and despondency in the land.”

The party stalwart further disclosed that discussions are ongoing to bring Peter Obi, Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) and Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso his counterpart in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general elections back to PDP before the 2027 elections.

“Sure, discussion is ongoing.” he disclosed, further adding, “You will see Peter Obi discussing with Atiku, you will see Peter Obi meeting with (Nasir) El-Rufai. Party management is a very difficult thing and we are doing the best in the quagmire that we have found ourselves. Rest assured, there would be light at the end of the tunnel. We have learnt our lessons in a bitter way.”
