A Northern group under the aegis of Arewa Think Tank has stated that north has no option but to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term if he decides to contest.
According to the group, the North does not need political power, but rather infrastructural and educational development from a leader who prioritizes the region’s welfare.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the prayer session, held by Islamic clerics at Arewa House, Kaduna, the Convener of Arewa Think Tank, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, expressed regret that a Northerner held the nation’s affairs for eight years without making positive impacts on the region.
“Why would the North stop President Tinubu? How can the North stop him in 2027 after someone from the North has served for eight years? For us to achieve peace in this country, the North has no option but to vote for Tinubu for a second term, allowing him to serve for eight years as well. The North should focus on infrastructural and educational development,” he said.
Yakubu advised that Northerners must face reality, set aside regional sentiments, and support Tinubu’s second term to ensure development in the zone.
He further emphasized that considering the magnitude of challenges facing the North, the region must address its internal issues and speak candidly to each other.
He pointed out that the insecurity challenges, which they had hoped former President Muhammadu Buhari would address, have worsened, indicating that political power alone holds no value for the North.
Former ACF National Publicity Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim Biu also urged Nigerians to continue praying for leaders to succeed, stating that doing so is more beneficial than cursing them.
