Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has stated that he will respond in due course to calls from the people of Bauchi, political groups, and others urging him to run for the governorship in the 2027 election.
Speaking in Zaranda Village, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Senator Buba told reporters, “Those calling for me to run for governor in 2027, I will respond when the time is right—whether positively or negatively. We should all pray for God to extend our lives to that time, as He is the best judge of events.”
The Senator, who has been at loggerheads with the state governor, Senator Bala Muhammad, emphasised that it is too early to begin discussing election campaigns.
The senator also pointed out that though he represents Bauchi South, he sees himself as representing the interests of the entire state, given that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), only won the senatorial seat in his district.
