The Government of Ogun State has promised to camp her athletes for 12 months preparatory to the 2024 games.

The Governor of the State, Dapo Abiodun, disclosed this when he received athletes that represented the state at the just concluded NSF in Delta state and promised that world-class facilities would be provided to make sure the festival look befitting.

He said, “Am determined to make the 2024 National Sports Festival the best ever witnessed in the history of the event.”

In addition, Governor Abiodun promised to lunch Sports Trust Fund soon in order to help generate the much-needed cash for the biennial games.

The Governor also rewarded athletes who won medals at Asaba 2022 as gold medallists took home N1m, silver medallists N500,000 while bronze medallists received N250,000 cash reward.

The State had won 15 gold, 18 silver and 37 bronze medals at Asaba 2022.

The Chairman of Ogun State Scrabble Association (OSSA), Adekoyejo Adegbesan, said sports in Ogun state would experience transformation.

He also promised that his association would hit the ground running to support the Governor’s vision. 

“Governor Dapo Abiodun is already matching words with action for Ogun State to host the best National Sports Festival ever. This will drive more talents our way.” 

“For us at the Ogun State Scrabble Association, work for the NSF 2024 has already commenced. We are now updating our database of athletes and looking at grooming them into champions when the sports festival comes around again,” he said.
