2024 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship winners unveiled

ReadManna Empowerment Initiative (REI), the organizer of the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship for Students (MOSWC) in Nigeria unveils the Nigerian Team to the 2024 World Championship taking place in Disneyland, Anaheim, California, USA on 28th July  2024.

The MOSWC is keenly competed annually by students in over 150 countries and in the past 15 years, Nigeria has come 2nd and 3rd in the World Championship and had top 10 finishes nearly every year.

The Championship, sponsored annually in Nigeria by Zenith Bank PLC challenges students to demonstrate their proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

The Founder of ReadManna Empowerment Initiative, Mrs. Edna Agusto in a statement said Microsoft Office Specialist programmes are the most commonly used productivity tools by businesses worldwide and the official MOS certification programme assesses and demonstrates proficiency in these programmes.

“Certified MOS users will become proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programmes, thereby improving their chances of becoming gainfully employed in today’s digital world. It is globally recognised and gives certified users the opportunity to apply for jobs anywhere in the World. MOS certification also provides a solid foundation for advanced ICT training and certified users will be able to pursue training in advanced computer technologies.,” she said.

She said the winners of the 2024 Microsoft Office Specialist Nigeria Competition and their ICT teachers will be representing Nigeria at the World Championship.

While congratulating all the shortlisted students, their ICT teachers, schools and parents, Agusto said the competition is open to all students aged between 13 and 22 years that are enrolled in an academic institution.

She however called for the support of the Nigeria team as they proceed to the 2024 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship for Students, saying, “Interested academic institutions that would like to compete in the 2025 MOSWC should contact ReadManna Empowerment Initiative.”

Meanwhile the 2024 MOS Nigeria Competition conducted by ReadManna in Nigeria was held between 1 October 2023 and 31 March 2024 with entries from across the states of federation and 126 students were eventually shortlisted at the National Competition held in Uyo, Ikorodu, Ijebu-Ode, Abuja and Gbagada.

According to Agusto, seven students scored 1,000/1,000 in various programmes, while only male students will be competing at the 2024  Championship, adding that three universities of Covenant University, Adeleke University and TopFaith University participated in the competition .

Some of the shortlisted students include Olamiposi Ayoola Ajisafe, Faith Academy, Gowon Estate, Lagos,  Gabari Rume, Grace High School, Gbagada, Lagos State,Daniel Uzugbo, Faith Academy, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State Bolurinwa Fabuyi, City of Knowledge Academy, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Arigbabu Oluwadamisola, Faith Academy, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, and Chukwuemeka, Faith Academy, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State
