The Gombe State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the N208 billion budget for the 2024 fiscal year one week after the presentation by the governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The assembly increased the estimate by N300 million from N207. 7 billion earlier submitted by the governor.
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Assembly, Umar Ma’aji, said the passage of the budget followed the adoption of a report by the House Committee on Appropriations on the 2024 budget estimate.
Presenting the report, the chairman of the committee, Aliyu Baba Manu (Gombe North), said his committee observed that most of the budget officers of the agencies were not conversant with the budget provisions which are guided by the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
