D’Tigress were the first to advance to the next round despite losing two matches and winning one match. The result placed them at the third position in Group, raising doubt about their chances to qualify.
But the silver lining was that they got to the knockout stage as one of the two best third-placed teams, alongside host nation Rwanda.

The pairing at the knockout stage pitted them against Egypt who defeated them 72-60 at the opening-game.
The girls will aim for revenge against the unbeaten Egyptians, scheduled for Wednesday.

The boy who needed a win to grab the quarter-final’s ticket left no stone unturned as they fired from all cylinders to outclass Uganda.
The win marked their second victories placing them at the top of the table. They defeated Angola 70-65 and lost 70-57 in their opening game.
They played their opening game few hours after arriving in South Africa owing to late players’ visas clearance.
