A business mogul and Presidential aspirant of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Prince Malik Ado-Ibrahim has explained why he did not join the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ruling Al Progressives Congress (APC) in his political aspiration.
Prince Malik, who is also a son of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland in Kogi States, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, said that he did not want a lost battle especially that Nigerians with their permanent voters card (PVCs) have more say than at the two leading parties level, mostly lacking in internal democracies.

Prince Malik in company of his wife and family members at the media briefing held at the FCT Chapter office of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), themed, ‘The Exposure: Deconstructing the Aspirant Malik Ado-Ibrahim’, said that he cannot join any party that has failed Nigerians and which Nigerians are waiting to vote out in 2023.
“We have a credible alternative in YPP and that it why I have joined the party to realize my ambition of serving. We are going to set an example; we will show what our party can do, which the members believe,” he said.
He said, “We need a visionary, not a symbol. I didn’t come here carrying an umbrella or a broom. I am a proud Nigerian. Nigeria is my problem, it is your problem, it is for every single person standing up.
“If you keep going after the party structure, even if they failed you, look into the hearts and minds of the people you want to lead. Do they represent you? Your president is a reflection of your country.”
He expressed hope that Nigerians would look at the visions of the next president of Nigeria and what he is willing to do.
“We don’t want frail leaders, I want to see a president that will roll up his sleeves and fight for you, fight for greatness and well-being of the citizens,” he said.
Listing four key areas that need improvement, Ado-Ibrahim said security, the transport system, power and employment were the keys to accelerating Nigeria’s economy on the path of development.
He warned that Nigeria has remained where it is because many leaders jump into the position without detailing plans for the growth of the nation.
“For instance, power is fundamental to every country’s growth and it’s not just giving power to all, you must have a plan. Las Vegas, as a city, generates 60,000 megawatts of electricity, while Nigeria, a whole country still sits on 4,000 megawatts.
“The same goes for security, Nigeria’s security profile should be that of a developed country by now with all our brave men and women in the force.
“What we need now is somebody, not a party. We need a visionary, not a symbol. If you vote for a party that has failed you in the next election, you are dumb. There is no school, no healthcare, no security and you still go back to the same source, you don’t deserve to call yourselves Nigerians,” he said.
