Ahead of the presidential election, Democratic Leadership, a group of professional diaspora with some members in Nigeria, has urged the electorates to vote massively for Peter Obi, presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP).
Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, President of the group, Ray Onwuelo, insisted that the LP candidate was prepared to provide a credible alternative for Nigerians.
Onwuelo also encouraged Nigerians to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC), stressing that the technological innovation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in the electoral process has given hope for credibility.
He said a recent study showed that Obi will win a simple majority vote and also secure the 25% constitutional requirements across at least twenty-four states of the federation in the elections.
“As it stands now, two of the candidates are likely to get the requisite 25% of the votes cast in 24 or more states and the FCT with the candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi securing the widest and largest number of votes in a fair presidential election. Some will be displeased with this, but that is the true situation on the grounds across the country with a small margin of error.
“Having arrived at the above conclusion following independent consideration of the choice of the candidates available to us, Democratic Leadership with its arrays of domestic and diaspora resources have aligned with the candidature of Mr Peter Obi of Labour Party to intensify campaign in 11 Northern states towards actualisation of a landslide victory at the Presidential Poll,” he said.
