The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, and Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, have called on Nigerians going for the annual Hajj exercise to pray for the emergence of credible leaders at the 2023 general elections.
They made the call at the Sultan Abubakar International Airport, Sokoto, while inaugurating the first flight conveying 420 intending pilgrims from the state to the Holy Land of Makkah in Saudi Arabia on Sunday night.

The sultan urged the intending pilgrims to pray for peaceful and hitch-free elections in the country and also tasked them to pray for the emergence of good leaders at all levels of governance.
The governor, in his own remarks, admonished the pilgrims to pray for peace, unity and more development in the state and country at large.
He admonished them to abide by the rules and regulations of the Hajj exercise, as well as COVID-19 protocols, noting that his government had done everything possible to ensure the success of the exercise.
Also, in his address, the leader of the government delegation to the pilgrimage, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Aminu Manya Achida, assured the government of his committee’s commitment for the success of the exercise.
