Former Anambra State Governor and Presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi, has asked delegates of the party to consider the future of their children in electing the Presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 election.

He said the current situation in Nigeria does not guarantee a better future for the children of the poor.

Obi who spoke during a meeting with the PDP delegates in Lagos, lamented that the country is facing a difficult moment instigated by bad leadership.

He said many Nigerian children had become bandits on account of the failure to provide them good education.

Obi, however, tasked the delegates to ignore pecuniary gains and vote for the right candidate in the PDP primary.

“If you take money to make the wrong choice, the society we fail to build will take a revenge. That’s why I am appealing to you this time around to bring competent leader that will start to rebuild this country. It is the children that we didn’t educate that become bandits today.”

“We celebrate criminality, we have to stop. It is time to stop now, to move our country forward,” he said.

Reminiscing about his administration in Anambra, he said the government stood out by cultivating saving habit even when other colleague governors were against it.

He said this was recorded in the book written by the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala.

He maintained that Nigeria must invest and create jobs in order to reduce criminality.

“You must create, you must create jobs. The more you push jobs out, the more you reduce criminality.  It is an economic problem, we must have to do something about it. The number of people that are supposed to be working out of 120million, but only 40million are working.

“This country is not producing the country must be productive. It is not about you, it is about the future of our children,” he added.
