A Professor of Sociology, Tukur Muhammad-Baba, has said political leaders or those seeking elective positions must be legitimate, accountable and transparent.
Professor Muhammad-Baba who is the Head, Department of Sociology, Federal University of Birnin-Kebbi, spoke while presenting his paper at the launch of the Muri Progressive Forum (MPF) in Kaduna.

In his paper titled ‘Muri Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: Challenges and Prospects Exploratory Observations’, Professor Muhammad-Baba, who is also from Muri Emirate said problems of disunity amongst Muri citizens, Taraba and Nigeria as a whole are due to lack of good governance.
He stressed that political leaders must change their mindsets to be accountable to the people who gave them their trust of representation, adding that Muri emirate must also be guided in their choice of political leaders as 2023 approaches.
Also speaking, Senator Yusuf A. Yusuf, representing Taraba Central, lamented that the challenges of different kinds faced by Nigeria as a whole, noting that Taraba State is not an exception.
Earlier, the Chairman of MPF, Alhaji Nasir Muhammad, said the objective of the forum was to encourage unity amongst the indigenes of Muri irrespective of tribe, religion or political inclination by providing a forum for them to discuss matters of common interest.
