The Member representing Gummi/Bukkuyum federal constituency in the National Assembly, Suleiman Gummi, has dismissed a claim by a former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would reclaim power in the state in the next election.
Yari was quoted as saying the APC would reclaim power in Zamfara in 2023, after revalidating his party’s membership card in his ward.
But speaking with newsmen at the weekend, the lawmaker said the former governor was only making a claim that “has no substance” following his reconciliation with the Senator Kabiru Marafa’s group.
“If you know who the former governor is, you will not be surprised and honestly you will not be moved. It is the same doggedness and straightforwardness that brought the situation in Zamfara to what it is now.
“You see, power belongs to God, and if power belongs to God, who are you, a mere mortal to say authoritatively that you will take over. Take over what? If God wants, he can’t even take over his house, not to talk of a whole state like Zamfara,” he said.
