Ahead of the 2023 General Elections, a coalition of the northern states’ civil society networks and Nigeria network of non-governmental organisations have urged Nigerians to contribute to the success of the elections.
They made the call Wednesday in Abuja at a one-day meeting and signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on strategic working partnership for national development.
- Petrol scarcity to linger as cargoes ‘stranded’
- FG to open airline bid Tuesday, complete airport concession midyear
They said that the collaboration among others would focus on facilitating effective advocacy on issues of civic space, national development, and election credibility. The Nigeria Network of NGOs, represented by its Executive Director, Oyebisi Oluseyi, and the Conference of Northern States Civil Society Networks represented by its Chairman, Malam Ibrahim Waiya, signed the MoU on behalf of the organisations.
According to Waiya, the MoU is to formalise a partnership between the two networks at a strategic and operational level.
On his part, Oluseyi said that the partnership would explore ways to ensure support for subnational networks through capacity building and experience sharing.
He also urged Nigerians to get their voter cards to vote for credible candidates that would help Nigeria achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
