Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has said the campaign posters in the public space indicating that he would contest the 2023 presidency is a distraction.
The governor, in a statement Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, said the posters did not reflect Akeredolu’s immediate political disposition.

In the last two weeks, campaign posters urging Governor Akeredolu to contest for president were sighted in different strategic locations in Akure, the Ondo State capital and some major towns in the state.
The latest posters indicate that Akeredolu would have a joint ticket with Yobe State Governor and Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni.
But the statement said: “Undoubtedly, the development is no less a needless distraction. Even though Mr Governor’s constitutional right, qualification and competencies are not in doubt, this particular campaign does not represent in any manner, his immediate political disposition.
“For emphasis, Governor Akeredolu who has just been re-elected, wishes to be left to focus on deepening good governance in Ondo State.”
