Muslims across Nigeria have been urged to prepare for the 2023 general elections by collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and voting during the election.
A cleric, Sheikh Abdullahi Gadon-Kaya, made the call at the closing ceremony of the 36th Annual Quran Competition for Jos-North Local Government Area, held on Sunday.

Abdullahi, who was the guest speaker, told the gathering that it was a serious mistake for Muslims to refuse to vote in any election.
“Don’t shun any election because, whether you come out to vote or not, election must hold. The system says leadership must emerge through democracy.
“So, it is better to go out en masse to vote for people of good character and track records of good deeds. It would be a big mistake for Muslims to decide not to vote during elections,” he said.
He also implored Muslims to always promote the cause of peace and harmony as taught by the Glorious Quran, and tasked parents, well-to-do individuals and governments at all levels to strive hard to support children to learn and memorise the Glorious Quran.
