Moreso, about a week ago, ace Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus posted a picture of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife rooting for them towards the 2023 election.
However, their action has elicited mixed reactions from their fans across several social media platforms as they have received both commendation and condemnation for openly supporting the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
Sharing his displeasure about the post, an Instagram user, @tholulorpe_ade stated that their action was disheartening as he simply posted, “Haaaa, this is highly disheartening from you people.”
@oresegunyeside, another user of the platform, Instagram alleged that the thespians are canvassing support for Tinubu because they have been paid to do so.
“This is very wrong. Just because you were paid and you come to social media to mislead people. Except you did not receive a dime but if you were paid to do this all your generations shall suffer. Who you vote for should be a personal thing. God will definitely judge,” the Instagram user said.
The user, @ayindejide, queried the reason for the rancour as some eastern entertainers campaigned for their preferred presidential candidate without any clamour from the public. “Psquare campaign for Obi, Okey Bakassi came out to campaign for Obi, Nobody abuse or curse them, why all these abuses? Everyone Has A Right To Support and Campaign For the Candidate Of Their Choice. The fact is Based On Their Capability and Experience in Both Private and Public Sector #BAT2023 Is The Man,” the Instagram user said.
Meanwhile, during an Instagram live chat with Daily Trust the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, explained that it is an offence for actors under the guild to gather together in support of a political party or candidate, however, they can do so individually.
