The Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace (IDFP) rose from its peace conference and 4th Annual General Assembly with a call on traditional leaders and their adherents to work towards peaceful polls in 2023.
The forum in a communiqué issued after the conference with the theme, “Building and sustaining the culture of peaceful elections in Nigeria: The Role of Faith and Traditional Leaders,” said faith and traditional leaders to sensitise and mobilise followers to pursue peace in all their sermons before, during, and after the elections.

The communiqué signed by the co-chairs, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni and Bishop Dr Sunday Onuoha, condemned the wanton killings and incessant destruction of lives and properties in the country. It advised clerics to focus on educating their members about the value of interfaith relations and avoid toxic preaching in all places of worship. The communiqué asked government to strengthen democratic and electoral processes and to include Peace Education in school curriculum to equip children with the necessary values for nation building.
