El-Rufai made this statement while speaking at the Town Hall Meeting on the draft of the 2023 budget organized by the Kaduna State Government, with the support of Partnership for Advocacy in Child And Family Health At Scale (PACFaH@Scale) — a Bill and Melinda Gates funded project in Nigeria.

El-Rufai said that his administration paid attention to creating new institutions and strengthening the existing public ones. Represented by the Commissioner for Public Works, Thomas Gyang, the governor noted that in June 2019, the Urban Renewal Programme to modernize three major cities commenced in the state.

“As this administration approaches its twilight, I wish to reiterate our resolve to ensure that we finish all ongoing projects before the transition in May 2023,” he said.

In his remarks, at the meeting Co-Chair of the Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health at Scale- (PACFaH@Scale) in Kaduna, Malam Mustapha Jumare, called on the state government to always cash back the approved budget. He also said as a group they have made submissions in areas they think need to be looked into and included in the budget.

Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Umma Yusuf Aboki, added that the size of the 2023 budget tagged ‘Budget of Growth and Development’, is N291.9 billion. She said the town hall meeting was to allow citizens’ participation and to discuss the budget before the final approval.
