The Igbo in the 19 Northern states and the FCT under the auspices of the Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA) have denied endorsing the presidential candidature of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued by Chief Chi Nwogu and Austin Ifedinezi Oforkansi, president general and secretary general respectively, the group described the endorsement as fake news.
It noted that one Mr Collins Ajali claimed in a newspaper interview that Igbo groups in the North would work for Tinubu to win the presidential election and for the reelection of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.

The statement reads in part: “We the Igbo in the 19 Northern states and Abuja under the umbrella of Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA) are equally dismayed by the actions of the group of unknown individuals led by the said Collins Chibueze Ajali who is said to be representing the unions.”
It re-emphasised that all the Igbo town unions in the 19 Northern states which were all under the umbrella of IDA were yet to endorse any candidate for the 2023 presidential election.
