An All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant, Alhaji Sani Mahmud Sha’aban, has rejected the endorsement of Senator Uba Sani by Governor Nasir El-Rufai as his anointed or consensus gubernatorial aspirant in Kaduna State.
Sha’aban described the endorsement as unacceptable and undemocratic, saying nobody can impose any aspirant on the people of the state.
According to him, he rejected the consensus because the decision will render all the party delegates useless and that 99 percent of the party members are not happy with the decision.
While addressing newsmen yesterday, he said President Muhammadu Buhari and the national leadership of the party will not accept dictatorship anywhere including in Kaduna State.
Daily Trust exclusively reported on Wednesday that Governor Nasir El-Rufai anointed Senator representing Kaduna Senatorial Zone, Senator Uba Sani as the party’s consensus aspirant for the state governorship election.
Sha’aban asked the governor to allow a free and fair primary if he has respect for the laws of the party.
“I am the first in APC in Kaduna State to purchase the form; nobody has called or invited me for any discussion,” he said.
