Thousands of people in the ancient town of Maiduguri, Borno state, trooped out to welcome the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) who was in the state for the launching of several projects including the MSME Clinics, North-East Children Learning Centre and a couple of others.
The people trooped out en masse in their traditional attaire, drums, crested vests and banners inscribed with the photos of the highly revered Vice President.
The Borno residents, in their excitement, displayed banners showing “PYO 2023”, “APC”, “OUR MAN IN HERE”, “WE HAVE A FATHER THAT NEVER FAILS” etc across following the VP’s motorcade.
While in Maiduguri, a good number of residents trooped out singing and rejoicing at the sight of Osinbajo. Several of them thanked him for helping to rebuild the state that has previously been destroyed by insurgency.
Several of the residents say they have benefited from several initiatives of the Vice President including schemes like MSME Clinics, Tech Hubs, N-Power etc.
One of the residents, Buka Kyari, said “I support Osinbajo. Osinbajo is very different kind of politician. He’s honest. He’s hardworking and passionate about us.”
He also said he’s benefited from a lot of things the VP has championed in the past which explains why he joined other residents to welcome the Vice President to the state.
Another resident, Yakub Tanko said “I was born in Maiduguri and have been here all my life. I’ve never seen our people troop out in this large number to welcome any Vice President. I think the masses love Osinbajo here. We want him to contest in 2023 and we will vote for him in large numbers.”
