The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Affairs (House of Representatives), Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub, has said with the passage of the Electoral Act, the 2023 elections will be credible and widely accepted.
He stated this while addressing journalists on the achievement of the president in running the affairs of the country.

According to him, the electoral act has opened the democratic space for Nigerians to fully participate in the process.
El-Yakub noted that most of the bottlenecks that had hitherto been impeding the democratic process have been identified and addressed.
He said the various amendments to the earlier law should be seen as an avenue to grow and protect Nigeria’s democracy envisaged by the generality of Nigerian and endorsed by the president.
The presidential aide also noted that although the president made observations in the 2022 budget and the electoral act and called for an amendment, he did not in any way try to compel the National Assembly to take any action.
