The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad, on Wednesday, told the newly appointed judges of the Federal High Court and the FCT High Court to brace up for challenges ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He spoke at the swearing-in of the newly appointed judges at the Supreme Court complex.
“There’s nothing we’ve not seen or heard of before, but you should be ready to see and hear more, especially as we approach election season in 2023.”
He said though judicial officers are not known to possess some supernatural powers to perform wonders, the society within which they operate might demand the impossible from judges.
“We’re all humans, no doubt, but you must display the humanism in you by doing those extraordinary things that people would say you cannot do,” he told the judges.
He asked them to shun unmerited wealth, vain glory, dishonest disposition and ostentatious lifestyle borne out of corrupt acquaintances.
“You can only run, but certainly won’t have the capacity to hide from the long arm of our disciplinary apparatus.”
The judges of the Federal High Court are Bala Usman, Emmanuel Gakko, Aminu Garba, Musa Sulaiman Liman, Ahmad Gama Mahmud, and Segun-Bello Mabel and
Joseph Aina, for the FCT High Court. (NAN)
