The candidate who will succeed Buhari in APC political party in south- west zone of the country depending on his permutation and political strength. The zone will produce presidential candidate. With Bola Ahmed Tinubu throwing his hat on the ring, reaching out to knock and corner for consultations, political pundits conclude that the national leader will carry the day. Anyway, some groups are agitating support for the Vice-President Yemi Osibanjo to succeed Buhari in the 2023 elections.
These groups believed the Vice President has been loyal to his boss with wide range of experience and competency and more capable to handle the nation affairs based on the achievement recorded by Buhari administration which he is part of it.
These support groups are right, Yemi Osibanjo has carved a niche for himself even before he joined the center as a trained lawyer and former Lagos commissioner of justice, A professor, and a good father to the nation.
When he became vice president in 2015 and 2019,Osibanjo ensured he worked in line with transformation agenda of Mr President.
He has been helping his boss to deliver democratic dividends to Nigerians. Whenever he presides FEC meeting, he intellectually presents issues related to economic development of the country. Although, he has remained mute about his presidential ambition, it is pertinent for him to answer the clarion call to join the race. His popularity has traversed the length and breath of the country. Buhari needs a successor who will continue from where he stop. For instance, the massive roads projects, the social investment programs that uplift millions of Nigerians out of poverty. Osibanjo will not only sustain these achievement but also extend more to the country.
There is no gainsaying the facts, Osibanjo is eminently qualified. He is a bridge builder with extensive network across the country. He is popular and a friend to all the geo-political zones. His emergence as Nigerian president will not raise any eyebrow. The ruling party (APC) should consider Osibanjo for the ticket. Other candidates including Tinubu should shelve their ambition and support Osibanjo . He is a right candidate for the job.
