2023: Cleric asks Nigerians to de-emphasise religion

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, a clergyman, Prophet Isaiah Wealth, has urged Nigerians to focus more on the character and competence of the candidates and not their religions.

Wealth, who is the convener of a non-governmental organisation, Pray Nigeria Movement (PNM), also urged Nigerians to depend on God for the right choice of the leader that would move the country forward in 2023.

He stated this Monday during an interview with newsmen in Lagos at the end of a seven-day fasting organised by the Church to seek God’s intervention in the forthcoming electioneering.

He said the incoming president could be a Muslim or Christian, saying Nigerians should be concerned about what the candidates have to offer.

Wealth said, “2023 is going to give us a good person that is going to lead us, whether he is a Muslim or a Christian that is not the issue. He is going to give us a good person because God is going to be involved in the politics of this nation, mark my words.”
