The All Progressives Congress National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu has said President Muhammadu Buhari and other critical stakeholders would determine who gets the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 general election.
She stated this while receiving a delegation of Hope 23 Women Wing of the Governor Yahaya Bello Presidential Campaign Organisation at the APC national secretariat on Tuesday in Abuja.

Many aspirants have sprung up vying for the party’s presidential ticket which includes, national leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi; Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State; former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and Ebonyi State governor, Dave Umahi.
The APC women leader said the party would not give its presidential ticket to someone who would not favour women in the scheme of things when he becomes president, adding that any contestant who ignored women in the build-up to the 2023 general election would lose the election.
“Our party will come together under the leadership of the President, Muhammadu Buhari and of course, the national chairman and other leadership structures to decide on who will be the candidate of our dear party.
“If indeed you are supporting a candidate in APC, you are supporting Governor Yahaya Bello, you must go out now and begin the door-to-door mobilisation for registration. Go door-to-door and begin the campaign for voter registration.
“The APC women’s wing will be coming out, will be going to states to mobilise women to go and register. If they don’t have their voters’ cards, our work is useless even if they give any of our aspirants the ticket, it will not amount to victory.
“Let us pray for our leaders. Let’s pray for our country. Let’s pray that the best leader will emerge victorious in our next convention. That’s where we can go with our full shoulders to the polls.
“But one thing is certain, APC will not give its tickets to a presidential candidate who will not favour women. We know our President and all the glass ceilings he has broken. You know our party chairman and all the glass ceilings he has broken for women; giving us free forms,” she said.
Earlier, the Director, Women Mobilisation for Yahaya Bello Presidential Campaign Organisation, Zarah Gift Onyinye, who enumerated the achievements of Governor Bello in Kogi State said the visit was to congratulate the women leader on her new role and to solicit her support for the emergence of Governor Yahaya Bello as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 polls.
