The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has asked the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi to return to the party, saying he has no national spread to emerge as president of Nigeria in 2023.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Saturday, the spokesperson of the Atiku Campaign Council, Senator Dino Melaye, said a vote for Obi in February would amount to a vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, because Obi, he said, lacked what it takes to win the election.

Melaye, therefore, called on the LP standard bearer to return to the PDP and work for the emergence of Atiku Abubakar, saying Nigerians cannot afford another four years of an APC administration.

He said no regional champion could win a presidential election in Nigeria.

“Buhari himself ran on regional grounds three times and lost woefully because he was a regional champion, both in the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), All Peoples Party (APP) and the Congress for Progressives Congress (CPC). He couldn’t win until he eventually run on a national platform. So historically, Peter ought to know that no regional champion can be president in Nigeria,” he said.
