Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has called on the gubernatorial candidates to come together and work for the success of the party at the polls.
Addressing journalists yesterday at an event organised to issue certificates of return to the party’s governorship candidates, Atiku said they should put behind them the processes of their emergence.

“What is before us is a task that we must all unite and achieve for this party and for Nigerians.
“I want to assure you that we will work together as a team and make sure you are all brought back elected as governors in your respective states,” he said.
The National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu said the party was not happy with the number of states currently under its control.
He said: “All the candidates with our certificates of return today are on their way to victory. We want to return the party to its glorious days. When we started, we had 21 governors, we grew that to 25 and then to 28 governors. Today, we have only 13 governors and for a party like us, that is not good enough.
“We are very confident that all the 13 states of the PDP will be retained because our governors have performed very well and we do not have any fear that the people will vote them or their successors back to power.
“In those places that we are not in power, people have seen the ineptitude and incapacity of the APC administration from the governorship to the presidential level and am sure by next year, many people will vote for the PDP. So, I’m sure we will capture more states in the next elections.”
