Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Etsako West, Owan East and Owan West local governments have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Senator Francis Alimikhena in his third term ambition at the Senate.
The leaders gave the endorsement for third term through a voice vote when Senator Alimikhena visited the various local governments to officially declare his intention to return to the Senate in 2023.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders in Owan East, the former member representing Owan East at the State House of Assembly, Fred Omogberai, said the lack of continuity by Senators in Edo North has always slowed down the pace of development in the Senatorial district.
He said Alimikhena has exceeded public expectation and as such there is no justification to remove him as Edo North Senator, especially now that the party looked up to him as the only unifying force.
He called on delegates to learn from Benue, Enugu, Nasarawa and other states whose senators have been in the Senate since 1999 and have been able to rise to the privileged position of Senate President and Deputy Senate President respectively.
